GoFundMe raises more than $5,000 to help family so far

A family is grieving the loss of a son and praying that a father will heal after a wreck late on Wednesday afternoon on Cave Spring Road ended with tragedy.

Georgia State Patrol released further information about that wreck today, reporting the loss of 4-year-old Luis Guzman-Baeza Jr. who died on the scene from injuries sustained in a rollover crash.

His father, Luis Guzman-Baeza, 25, of a Cedartown address, was transported to Floyd Medical Center not long after the crash and remained there today. An infant passenger also in the car was thankfully unharmed.

Per the GSP report which is incomplete as the investigation is still underway, Guzman-Baeza was driving with the children eastbound on Cave Spring Road at 4:28 p.m. on October 12 when he drifted into the westbound lane, overcorrected and exited the road before he spun and struck a ditch, which caused the 2005 Ford F-150 to roll over and struck a tree with the roof.

GSP noted the report is incomplete at this time.

A GoFundMe for the family to help the family during this time, established by Yakelin Alvarado.

That fundraiser has so far brought in over $5,800 in just over 10 hours since it went live to help the family.
