Georgia State Patrol officials provided more information this morning following the tragic death of a Cedartown man on Highway 27 on Monday morning.
GSP reported that James Eddie Guice, 78, of Cedartown, died on the scene after he was struck in a dark, unlit area around Oak Grove Road in the right lane of Highway 27 Southbound.
Per the report, the driver of the Ford F-150 attempted to swerve and avoid Guice, but was unable to do so in time.
Cedartown and Polk County Police, along with AdventHealth Redmond EMS around 5:05 a.m. and immediately responded to the scene.
Georgia State Patrol said the investigation remains open at the moment.
