
A Rockmart man who fled on foot from police was back out of jail on bond after police finally found their man in a Pine Road residence on Wednesday.
Zyshonne Lauaie Middlebrooks, 24, of 116 Nicole Circle, Rockmart, was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2022 by Polk County Police a little over 12 hours after he ran from his girlfriend’s crashed car and got away from officers on foot after a short chase. He was released on a $5,000 bond on misdemeanor charges not long after.
Per PCPD reports, a report came in to officers that Middlebrooks was located at a Pine Road address in the Rockmart area. Officers with the support of Rockmart PD and a K-9 unit arrived at the home, and knocked multiple times at the front door, then the back which came open. Police noted they smelled marijuana inside, but did not report finding any in the house.
They ultimately went inside, encountered another resident who they escorted out of the house, and then went upstairs and found Middlebrooks, who gave himself up to officers.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
Middlebrooks was charged with misdemeanors for failure to maintain lane, failure to yield for authorized emergency vehicle, possession of marijuana, failure to notify owner upon striking fixed object, obstructing law enforcement officers and driving while license suspended or revoked.
He was reported on Wednesday morning to be involved in a chase with police that ended on Dogwood Lane in the Rockmart area with his girlfriend’s car being crashed into a mailbox and left in a backyard when Middlebrooks fled on foot.
