An upcoming event is set to provide help for educators and a local organization all in one go in July.
Camp Antioch is hosting a Teacher Yard Sale being organized by volunteer Blair Elrod, with hopes that educators looking to get rid of items from their classroom can connect with folks looking for a steal, and provide some help for Camp Antioch and the Polk-Haralson Baptist Association that runs it.
“I’m hoping that we can not only help teachers with a lot of years in the classroom clear some space for new items and their students, but also to help Camp Antioch,” she said. “Camp Antioch has done so much for the community, and I think it is important for all of us to do something we can help to give back to this wonderful resource we have here in Polk County.”
The sale will be held on July 12 from 8 a.m. to noon, and will be outdoors. A vendor fee for educators is $25, and the sale is geared toward providing opportunities for teachers to clear classrooms of old books, manipulatives, games, supplies, or other classroom items.
The vendor fee goes directly toward helping Camp Antioch in their work in a variety of areas around the community.
10-by-10 foot spaces will be available for the vendor fee, but those participating will need to provide their own table, chairs, tents, and tarps. In case of rain, the sale will move indoors to the Camp Antioch gymnasium.
