
The National Weather Service did have Cedartown under a severe thunderstorm warning earlier, and heavy rains, lightning, and strong winds have struck all across Polk County this afternoon and into the evening hours, leaving behind a lot of water, limbs and helped cause at least one wreck this afternoon.

Stormy weather remained this evening in Polk County, and so far Georgia Power only reported scatted outages around the eastern side of Polk County impacting no more than 30 customers at this time. Those were mainly east of Rockmart, Aragon and around Taylorsville.
The National Weather Service reported in their hazardous weather outlook for the rest of the evening to expect the potential for localized strong winds, rain, frequent lightning and the potential even for hail.
Tonight’s weather outlook puts stormy weather out of the county by late into the night hours but should be cleared out by midnight, with a low down to 68. Chances for rain and storms are in the forecast for Sunday afternoon as well.
