The council is finally full again with the addition of a new member following the March 18 election.
A brief ceremony was held at City Hall in Aragon for new council member David Spalding on Tuesday afternoon. The Bartow County Sheriff’s Deputy began his service after he took the oath of office from Polk County Probate Judge Bobby Brooks. (Brooks also serves as the city’s Magistrate Judge.)
Spalding comes into the role with a similar background to his predecessor Donnie Canada. Both have experience in law enforcement and seek to reduce criminal activity within the city limits.
He was the only candidate to seek the office following Canada’s untimely passing in December 2024.
Spalding will serve out the rest of Canada’s term, which began in 2024 following his election to office in 2023.
