Plenty of fun is in store for folks of all ages during the 2024 Silver Comet Festival in downtown Rockmart for one group’s annual fundraiser following the Thanksgiving holiday.
The annual event put on by the Rotary Club of Polk County to provide opportunities for local-focused post-Christmas shopping with multiple vendors, music throughout the day, places for
Rotary is set to host the annual event and Santa Claus will be on hand for photos, with the 46th annual Duck Race set to close out the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.
Santa Claus will be available for photos from 1 to 3 p.m.
Additionally, tours of the slate quarry are available during the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Duck Race will cap off the year’s event as hundreds of ducks sold via tickets from Rotary Club members are dumped into Euharlee Creek.
The first duck to cross the finish line on Euharlee Creek will win $1,000. Other prizes for second, third and the last duck across are also available as well.

The event is one of Rotary’s biggest fundraisers throughout the year.
