Shooting reported on Monday night in Collard Valley area

A man was airlifted with non-life threatening injuries on Monday night to an area hospital for further treatment after being wounded, according to police.

Chief Kenny Dodd reported tonight that a male was struck by a single gunshot at a house in the 4000 block of Collard Valley Road around 8:14 p.m. on Monday night, April 24.

Per Dodd, emergency personnel were called to the scene following an argument between the victim and the shooter.

A Life Flight helicopter was called in to provide an air ambulance to an area hospital for further treatment with a severe injury to his arm.

No other injuries were reported.

Police have the shooter in custody, and have not yet charged him. He is being questioned at this time.

This is a developing story and information may be updated as officials learn more about what happened in the course of the investigation.

This is the second shooting incident in the past four days in Polk County, following an incident where four were wounded during a fight in Rockmart on Friday night. Police made one arrest after a chase in that incident, and sought three others for their involvement.
