Update 7 p.m.:
One man was in custody and another was airlifted to an Atlanta-area hospital, according to the latest update from Polk County Police.
Chief Kenny Dodd reported that 41-year-old Mark Harris of Carter Mountain Road was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after he was shot this evening at 261 Carter Mountain Road.
His condition was not yet known as of this latest update from police.
Police took Richard Wayne Tibbetts, 74, also of Carter Mountain Road, into custody after he was found in the woods. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, both felonies.
Police are still investigating why the shooting occurred. Further details will be updated when available.

Police now have a suspect in custody accused of shooting another person on Carter Mountain Road this afternoon.
Polk County police chief Kenny Dodd reported that no one was injured when the suspect was taken into custody after officers searched the woods around the area of 261 Carter mountain Road for their whereabouts.
Dodd said the situation is still developing and will release additional updates as they become available.
No names have yet been released by police of who was involved.

One person has been shot and a suspect is on the run from authorities this evening, according to the Polk County Police.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd reported one victim so far in the incident, and that a suspect is at-large in the area at this time. The person is on foot, and believed to be armed and dangerous in the area immediately around 261 Carter Mountain Road, where the shooting took place.
That area is between Pine Mountain and Old Collard Valley Road.
A perimeter is being setup and a search conducted to try and take the suspect into custody before they can get any further. A detailed description of the shooter was not yet available.
No additional details were yet available on the condition of the shooting victim.
