Multiple items are on the agenda for a special called session of the Polk County Board of Education, most of them involving spending of some form or another.
The Board of Education will gather at the central office at 5 p.m. for the session to cover the 14 action items up for a decision in a combined work and regular session.
Those include contributions made to Polk County’s 4-H Extension program totaling more than $5,000, plus work happening within the district like landscaping projects at Rockmart High, Cedartown High and Westside Elementary, new school sheds, a softball field repair at Rockmart High School, commercial fan installation and labor, shelving, a renovation of the Central Office, track equipment, a track timing system, and resurfacing of the tennis courts at both high schools.
Additionally, the board is set to vote on whether to appoint Jonathan Kirsch to the Sara Hightower Regional Library System board as a representative from the Polk School District.
The board is also set to purchase cleaning supplies and equipment from Sullins Cleaning Service for $62,968 as part of their agenda items for the evening meeting. The board voted previously to bring cleaning services back in-house, and the request allows for the district to buy the remaining supplies and equipment from Sullins Cleaning Service that are currently in the schools at the end of the academic year.
Anyone wishing to attend the session is able to do so since it is an open meeting.
Check back for additional details on the requests on Wednesday.
