Expect changes to the way you get around a major intersection west of Cedartown on Highway 278.
The new roundabout where Adamson Road, Canal Street, the Hwy. 100 North Cutoff and Piedmont Highway combine is entering the final phases of construction as paving work to create new lanes is about midway done.
Crews were off on Thursday due to weather, but through a dry spell of weather made major progress through the fall months on the project.

The hopes are that the new intersection change will provide a greater level of safety for the amount of traffic moving through from Cedartown outward toward Alabama on Piedmont Highway, or back into town to the Westside Industrial Park to one of several companies shipping products in and out of Polk.
The project has been several years in the making by the Georgia Department of Transportation, but finally began to turn toward completion when clearing work began earlier this year at the intersection.
When completed, the stop signs will be removed and drivers will have to learn to navigate the roundabout to get outward to Piedmont Highway, or circle fully to make a left turn.
Check back for additional updates on the intersection project as it is finished.
