REPORT: Woman who tried to run from officers found with stolen Tea Tree Oil from Dollar General

Kimberly Wynell Collum

A Cedartown-area woman caught crossing through the Lankford Motors parking lot on Saturday night was charged after she tried to run from officers and was caught with items shoplifted from Dollar General, per Cedartown Police reports.

Kemberly Wynell Collum, 53, of a Cedartown-area address, was arrested on Saturday night by Cedartown Police after they spotted her walking through the Lankford Motors parking lot well after the business was closed.

Police followed Collum’s progress until she made it to the back of the parking lot and way about to cross the railroad tracks when an officer turned on his spotlight in an attempt to get Collum to stop.

Instead she tried to flee, and made it 100 yards before she was caught by officers. After she was taken into custody and claimed she did nothing wrong, officers noted that she became “very irate” and was taken onward to the Polk County Jail for booking.

After a search of her belongings, police found five boxes of Tea Tree Oil in a pocket book, and some paper towels inside of a Dollar General bag. The arresting officer investigated further and found the Tea Tree Oil was stolen from the South College Street location of Dollar General not long before officers arrived.

Collum was charged with misdemeanors for loitering or prowling, obstructing law enforcement officers and theft by shoplifting.

She remained in custody as of this posting with a $4,200 bond.
