A woman who lost her child earlier in the week is now fighting to recover after sustaining serious injuries in a wreck in her driveway on Cornelius Road in the Cedartown area, according to Polk County Police reports.
Karalyn Brynne Lonergan, 30, was leaving the Cornelius road address on Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. when she somehow lost control of a 2000 Ford Explorer owned by another person when it left the driveway, and then when it came back on overturned before it landed right side up.
Officers at the scene attempted to talk to Lonergan after emergency personnel arrived on the scene, but she was unable to tell first responders or police what caused the wreck.
Lonergan sustained serious injuries including a head injury during the wreck, and she was airlifted by Lifeflight out from the area around Country Sportsman on Wednesday evening for further treatment.
There wasn’t any immediate information on her current condition from Polk County Police as of this posting.
While searching the crash site, Polk County Police in a second report noted that a bag of suspected methamphetamine and a glass pipe were located, and attributed ownership to Lonergan.
Polk County Police have not yet filed charges against Lonergan for the incident due to her medical condition. Check back for more when it becomes available.
Longeran just two days prior had lost her son Richard “Brody” Beck at the age of seven. Funeral services were postponed due to the wreck.
