REPORT: Woman jailed on multiple charges after assaulting EMS

A woman was charged by Cedartown Police on Wednesday after AdventHealth EMS personnel were assaulted, and she later spat at officers after being taken into custody according to officials.

Cedartown Police officials reported that Heather Nichole Royal, 37, of a Cedartown address, was taken into custody after she initially called 911 for help claiming an overdose. Cedartown Police, Fire and Rescue and EMS were sent out, and found that she was intoxicated but not in mortal danger.

As EMS personnel were attempting to help, Royal is accused to having punched and kicked paramedics. She was taken into custody, and then spat at officers while being escorted to a patrol vehicle and onward to jail.

Royal was charged with felonies for two counts of obstructing law enforcement officers and obstructing EMTs, along with misdemeanor charges of simple battery, simple assault, public drunkenness, and simple battery against police officer/law enforcement dog/corrections or detention officer.

She remained in custody on a $10,000 bond as of this posting.
