Three people were arrested on Tuesday evening after officers went to a Wieuca Way residence looking for a wanted suspect, and ultimately found him in a bathroom after two additional people tried to keep officers from getting their man.
On Tuesday, November 15, police arrested James Aaron Landrum, 23, of a Brewster Field Road address in Cedartown, as well as Katlyn McCleary, 23, and Dakota Morgan, 22, of the Wieuca Way address in Cedartown.
Police initially arrived at the Cedartown residence and encountered McCleary first at the door when they inquired about Morgan’s whereabouts, and she told them she hadn’t seen him in a while and believed he was now living in New Mexico.
Officers noted in their report that one officer spotted him at the house an hour before.
When police asked to search, McCleary feigned that she wasn’t the homeowner and went off to ask, taking many minutes to return before giving consent for police to come inside.
There they found Landrum and another individual who wasn’t booked in the living room. When officers asked if they knew where Morgan was, they also said they had no idea.
Police ultimately found Morgan in the house hiding inside the bathtub within the master bathroom. Everyone was initially detained while police sorted out what to do with the two additional suspects who had tried to keep police from finding Morgan in the house.
Ultimately it was decided to charge McCleary when it became clear that McCleary was in a relationship with Morgan.
Landrum was searched and found with two blunts and a glass pipe he admitted was used to smoke methamphetamine. He was taken into custody without further incident.
McCleary and Morgan were also taken to the Polk County Jail without further incident.
Police charged Morgan with a felony for failure to appear, six more misdemeanor counts of failure to appear, and a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of law enforcement officers. He remains in custody as of this posting with bond set at $3,620.
Landrum was booked and later released on a $3,000 bond for felony hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal, and a misdemeanor for possession and use of drug-related objects.
McCleary was also released on a $2,000 bond for felony hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal.
