Polk County Police took a man into custody and have charged him with child pornography possession after a tip ended with his arrest.

Detective B. Brady reported that police arrested Ricky Nelson Gilmer, 59, of 329 Gordon St., Rockmart, was taken into custody on Tuesday around 7 a.m. after police were given a tip that Gilmer – a registered sex offender – might have been involved with child pornography, which is against the terms of his probation.

Police went to Probation officers to get assistance in making contact with Gilmer, and following an interview and an initial review of an electronic device, found child pornography stored within.

He was taken into custody without further incident.

Gilmer remains in jail with no bond set on felony charges of computer pornography, and two counts of sexual exploitation of children – possess or control any material depicting minor in sexually explicit (… is where the charge listing ends on the Sheriff’s Office documentation. – KtE)
