Polk County Police found a pair at the Silver Comet Trailhead at Coot’s Lake and arrested one of the two on drug charges, according to a report filed over the weekend.
Patricia Joyce Heflin, 35, of 3178 Sharon Drive, Powder Springs, and a second uncharged person were found at the Coot’s Lake trailhead around 2 a.m. in the early morning hours of October 31. Per reports, police found a car in the parking area with the motor running, then saw Heflin and the second individual with flashlights walking through a grassy area next to the Silver Comet Trail.
The report stated that officers called the pair over to the vehicle since the trailhead is closed after dark and they began to investigate.
“During the investigation, narcotics were located on Patricia who was arrested and released to the Polk County Jail with no further incident,” the report stated.
The reports listed details of what was found when they searched Heflin, including digital scales, a glass pipe, five hydrocodone pills, a container with suspected methamphetamine, and suspected marijuana.
Heflin remained in jail on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and tampering with evidence. She also was charged with misdemeanors for loitering or prowling, possession and use of drug-related objects, and obstruction of law enforcement officers. No bond had yet been set for her charges.
The report did not indicate what became of the second individual involved in the incident.
Officers did not include any information as to what prompted the tampering with evidence and obstruction charges in their report as well.
