One person is dead and another was sent by Lifeflight to an area hospital for treatment in a wreck on Prior Station Road this afternoon, according to local officials.

First responders were called out to the area of Prior Station Road in between Esom Hill Road and Dry Creek Road around 5:20 p.m. after a wreck was reported in the area.

The wreck is reported to have involved a work truck and a motorcycle rider.

Officials did not yet have an immediate condition on the patient sent to the hospital via helicopter.

Georgia State Patrol has been called to the scene to take over the investigation since it involves a fatality.

The Polk County Coroner’s Office will provide the name of the individual who died when next of kin is notified.
