A suspect tried to hide in an attic space to keep from going to jail, but officers were diligent and even one fell through the ceiling over the weekend while making the arrest, per Polk County Police reports.
PCPD reported that five officers showed up to a Calloway Court address in Rockmart just before 4 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 looking for Bobby Eugene Wigley, 43, at his residence.
Police got information that he was there and had a warrant for his arrest, and when they showed up they found another man who informed officers he was inside the apartment in the bedroom.
Wigley couldn’t be found within, but police found insulation coming out of the attic crawlspace entrance and heard noises while outside again that made them believe he was hiding in the unfinished space.
Police went into the attic, and found Wigley hiding “completely under insulation.” The officer who found him didn’t have good footing and fell through the dry wall of the ceiling trying to get over to Wigley.
The officer wasn’t harmed, got back up and put Wigley in cuffs and the group got him out of the attic.
Per the report, Wigley was taken into custody without further incident and charged with five counts of misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officer and a warrant for felony aggravated battery.
He remained in jail as of this posting since his bond was denied.
