Report: Man tried to dump meth into slushie to destroy evidence during Friday traffic stop

Meth and marijuana were recovered and two men were jailed during an evening traffic stop by the Polk County Police in Cedartown, according to reports.

Per the PCPD, they arrested Alvin Levon Hames, 47, of 1909 Lees Chapel Road, Cedartown, and Bradley Keith Meyers, 35, of 400 Amberwood Connector, Euharlee, Ga., were taken into custody around 10:30 p.m. when they were stopped by officers in a black BMW first spotted on Main Street with its headlights off and then stopped before East Ellawood Avenue after turning onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The reporting officer wrote that when he approached the car, he was “overwhelmed with the odor of marijuana” and told the two male occupants to step out of the vehicle.

During this time, the passenger identified as Meyers told officers he had a bench warrant for probation violation out for his arrest, and they called in for more information and took him into custody first.

While waiting for more information, police talked to the driver identified as Hames, who told officers that Meyers had “took some methamphetamine that he had and tore the bag open and then dumped some of it in Hames’ blue slushy and dumped the rest in the floorboard.”

A search of the vehicle yielded evidence to support Hames’ claim. Police were able to recover pieces of the meth from the drink and the floorboard, and also found two THC vape pens and a partially smoked joint. They also found seven $100 counterfeit bills as well, which Hames claimed that Meyers had somehow snuck into his center console.

When questioned about the methamphetamine, Meyers denied it was his and that he had only gotten in the BMW with Hames in order to get a ride home at the Tobacco Mart.

Both men were taken to the Polk County Jail and booked on multiple felony charges. Hames remained booked on a $22,500 bond for possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent, tampering with evidence, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, and misdemeanors for fourth-degree forgery, driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to maintain lane and headlight requirements.

Meyers was also still booked at the time of this posting with a $20,000 bond set on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent, tampering with evidence, and probation violation.
