Rockmart Fire and Rescue and units providing aid from the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department both tried but we’re unable to save a Jones Avenue House during the early morning hours today.

Firefighters were dispatched when the alarm came through at 4:30 a.m. to the fire at 808 Jones Avenue and found the property fully involved with flames and smoke.

Though the two fire departments tried, the house was a total loss.

Rockmart Fire Chief Todd Queen said this morning following the incident that there has thus far been no immediate cause determined for the blaze. He said it remains under investigation at this time.

Queen added the home had no occupants at the time it caught fire.

No injuries were reported due to the fire.
