A Cedartown teen who went missing this past Monday was found in Polk County during a search today in the area around near the Cedartown city limits on Prior Station Road, bringing more tragedy to the Bulldog family today.
Per a release from the City of Cedartown, who it was initially thought the leading agency was the Cedartown Police Department, and in conjunction with the Polk County Police, it has been confirmed that Jesus Betancourt-Torres, 17, and a sophomore at Cedartown High School, was found dead this morning by a search party combined of volunteers and local emergency personnel.
He was first reported missing by his family on Monday evening, February 8. More widespread news about Betancourt-Torres seeking information on his whereabouts was shared on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials have reported that the body of missing 17-year-old Jesus Betancourt-Torres was located this afternoon. Officials say there are no apparent signs of foul play, but an investigation continues.
The body was located in an area outside of the City Limits, and both the Cedartown Police Department and the Polk County Police Department are handling the case.
Betancourt-Torres was found after an organized search party assembled early this morning. The searchers were made up of local residents, church members, law enforcement and fire department officials.
The high school senior had been missing since Monday, Feb. 8, from the 5th Street area of Cedartown.
Police Chief Kenny Dodd said additional information will be forthcoming following the conclusion of a death investigation.
Following the announcement of the latest death impacting the Cedartown High School family, Polk School District Superintendent Laurie Atkins provided the following statement:
“Words fail to express how saddened we are to hear the news about Jesus’ passing. Please keep his family, friends, and the entire CHS students and employees in your prayers,” she said.
Note: In previous reporting on Mr. Betancourt-Torres, his age was listed as 18. It has been confirmed to actually have been 17. Additionally, an error made unintentionally was that Mr. Betancourt-Torres was senior, and instead he was a member of the Class of 2023. – KtE
