Portions of Polk County have experienced some time in the dark throughout the day and some customers will be out until late tonight, according to the latest estimates from Georgia Power.
Currently, some 939 customers are being impacted in the area around Morgan Valley Road and in southern Rockmart due to an outage that also had put some residents in the dark in Rockmart as well. Power in some areas has been restored, but around five customers around the area of South Piedmont Avenue remained knocked out as well.
Rockmart’s outage was caused by a vehicle striking a utility pole, according to officials.
Earlier in the day, a large area around Esom Hill and southwest Polk County and Hwy. 100 south were impacted by an outage during the morning.
The current outage along Morgan Valley Road, the area surrounding West Church Street and MLK Boulevard in Rockmart is expected to be resolved by 11 p.m., per the outage map.
