The fountain outside of the Rockmart Senior Center on West Elm Street has long been dormant. It was installed long ago, when the building previously served as the library.

Now the fountain is getting back to being operational for the enjoyment of everyone in the community thanks to a project put together by the Polk County Rotary Club.

Rotarians and volunteers have been putting in the labor in one capacity or another during the past months to bring the fountain back to life after it sat dormant for many years. Local businesses also offered their support as well.

The work was also funded through grants provided by Rotary District 6900 to help complete the community-oriented project.

Along with repair work, new concrete poured and new coats of paint that have gone onto the fountain’s interior surfaces, the addition of benches around the outside offer an opportunity for local residents to sit and enjoy the area.

The work is fully done on the area around the fountain either. Plans include new landscaping to go around the concrete pad as well, and future plans include the option by Rotarians sell engraved bricks to for additional decoration around the site as well.
