Polk Family Connection sells 125 signs to provide candy for foster youth

Some good news coming out of the close of October: a whole lot of foster youth in Polk County got sweets for Halloween thanks to the generosity of the community.

Polk Family Connection Executive Director Rhonda Heuer said reported on Facebook on Friday that 125 of the Get Pump’d for Halloween signs were sold over the past month to raise $3,000 for youth with the help of Harbin Clinic and local purchasers of signs that went out in yards across Polk County.

“As we wind up one of our most successful fundraisers, due to the partnership of Harbin Clinic and the generosity of our community coming together to support our children in foster care, I just wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation,” Heuer said in the post. “Patty Rogers –many thanks for your help in selling and distribution!”

She said in the post on Oct. 30 that the resulting funds help purchase pumpkin buckets, candy and small toys for youth and were distributed in a safe and fun way to foster families.

“Thank you Polk County for supporting our families one more time!!” Heuer added.

Those who are interested in helping Polk Family Connection heading into the holiday season can reach out on their Facebook page.
