
Polk County Police took a man into custody on Monday who was accused to uploading child pornography to a social media site, according to information provided by law enforcement.
PCPD arrested Claude Benjamin Hames, 49, of 2182 Buchanan Hwy., Lot 12, Cedartown, on Monday at 9:16 p.m. after a cyber tip was forwarded to PCPD Detective B. Brady, who is locally the ICAC Task Force member locally.
He said Hames – also a registered sex offender – was investigated after data containing child pornography was uploaded to a site, and the owners reported the images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The NCMEC forwared the information along to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and it was further assigned for investigation to Brady.
“Via the legal process, we were able to identify his (Hames) IP address,” Brady explained. “We were then able to make an arrest based on the images contained in the cyber tip.”
Hames remains in the Polk County Jail as of this posting on felony charges of sexual exploitation of children – create/etc or possess wid/sell visual medium depicting minor in sexual (unknown the rest of the charge wording) and computer pornography.
