Emergency officials sent an individual to the hospital this evening after his vehicle ran into a power pole on Denton Road following what was believed to be an overdose.

Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd confirmed that AdventHealth Redmond EMS administered Narcan to the driver after they struck a telephone pole behind the wheel this evening. Polk County Fire & Rescue along with Georgia Power were also called to the scene.

Georgia Power is working on the pole at this time as well, Dodd noted.

The driver was found unconscious by the 911 caller and officials on scene believe they had overdosed in this initial report.
