More than $5,000 was raised today and fundraising efforts will continue to help the Ingram family, though they do so with the additional sad news that two-year old Briggs passed away on Friday.
Briggs Ingram died on Friday, according to officials from the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, who are raising money in effort to help with bills related to Briggs’ treatment at UAB Children’s Hospital in Birmingham this week.
He passed as a result of the injuries he suffered in a near-drowning incident last weekend.
His father Capt. Josh Ingram serves with the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department and as a fill-time firefighter in Bremen. He held onto his son’s life after performing CPR for more than 30 minutes until medical personnel arrived at Lake Martin after a July 17 incident on the water.
Briggs was airlifted to UAB Children’s Hospital for treatment and had been in intensive care.
Family members posted on Facebook this evening about his passing. Information about services was not yet available.
“We’re heartbroken for our brother firefighter and friend and his entire family for their loss on Friday,” PCVFD officials stated this evening. “We ask the community to join us in continued prayers for the Ingram family at this time, and offer whatever assistance you can to them.”

Those who want to help those efforts can provide donations to firefighters outside of the Cedartown Kroger on Sunday starting at 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Polk County volunteer firefighters brought out trucks to the front of the Walmart in Rockmart earlier today to “Fill the Boot for Briggs.” Rockmart residents provided $5,700 in funds.
