PCPD officers lend helping hand wrangling donkeys on the loose

Officers from the Polk County Police Department took on the job of making sure some donkeys on the loose didn’t get too far from home, and got back safely to their owners.

The department’s most recent post on Facebook shows officers with a pair of donkeys that got out of their fencing on Substation Road, requiring the help of a few of PCPD’s finest on the force. Credit goes out to Sgt. Dyer and Det. Caleb Bowman on this one.

From the post:

If you traveled down Substation Road today, you may have been in for some entertainment. In the pictures above, you can see Sergeant Dyer and Detective Bowman doing something that wasn’t taught in our Field Training manual…wrangling donkey’s.

After a tedious time (one donkey was a little stubborn), both donkey’s have been secured, and are awaiting to be returned to their home.

Sergeant Dyer and Detective Bowman will now be carrying some lead rope, and feed in their patrol vehicles. Special thanks to Director Crawford of Polk County Animal Control for the assistance.

Have a safe night Polk, and call us if you need us!

Note: Definitely a problem that only a rural police department would be called upon to handle. -KtE
