Polk County Police found multiple cans of aerosol used by a man to get high and cause damage to his vehicle took one more huff before his arrest, according to reports from over the weekend.
Officers arrested Marquis Trevis Peek-Smith, 25, of a Rockmart-area address on Saturday afternoon, March 15 when he was found on Morgan Valley Road in his vehicle with a “considerable amount of damage” while laid back in the driver’s seat with the windshield wipers running.
Except it wasn’t raining at the time, and the windshield was even moist.
Peek-Smith seemed to be using the keyboard duster can found in his lap when officers approached to ask him what was going on, and the report stated it took a portable radio transmission for him to finally perk up while the officer was trying to get his attention. When he came to and was able to speak, he asked the officer “what are you doing?” and then took the keyboard duster from his lap and “proceeded to consume its contents.”
After he was pulled out of the car, PCPD noted his unsteadiness and that he couldn’t walk without using his vehicle as a prop.
He was cuffed without incident after police were concerned about his ability to walk – much less stand – and was read his rights. Peek-Smith refused the opportunity for giving a blood sample to determine whether he was high on the keyboard dusting aerosol fumes while behind the wheel.
Police found two additional aerosol cans in the car.
Peek-Smith was taken into custody and remained in jail without bond set as of this posting on a felony charge for probation violation, and a misdemeanor charge of DUI – glue/aerosol/toxic vapor less safe.
