Paul Lynn Barton

A Rockmart man was charged with burglary and theft after he was accused of taking a work truck full of tools, according to reports.

PCPD arrested Paul Lynn Barton, 51, of a Rockmart address, after he was booked on charges for burglary, theft by taking and failure to appear.

A couple last week on Monday, August 12, reported their stolen truck from their driveway in Rockmart. They told Polk County Police that when they went to bed the night before, their 2016 Chevrolet Silverado with around $1,000 worth of tools went missing by the time they woke up the next morning.

The tools inside the bed of the truck included a ladder, saws, sanders, paint brushes, hand tools and jumper cords.

The couple told police they had no clue who might have taken the truck.

Police had not yet updated information on how they were able to locate the truck and how Barton was involved in the incident.

He was booked on the felony and misdemeanor charges on Friday afternoon, August 16, into the Polk County Jail.

Barton remained in custody on the felony charges of failure to appear and burglary in the second degree, and a misdemeanor charge of theft by taking.

Bond was set at $16,000.
