UPDATE: One fatality reported in Cave Spring Road wreck

Update:

A 22-year-old driver died at Atrium Health Floyd from injuries sustained in a Friday afternoon wreck, according to a Georgia State Patrol release this morning.

GSP reported that Timothy Brown Jr. was taken to the hospital in Rome by EMS and passed away while being treated for critical injuries sustained in the October 20 wreck.

Per their preliminary investigation, Brown was driving a blue Dodge Dakota down Cave Spring Road heading south when he was coming into the curve near Evergreen Lane and his right rear tire blew.

When that happened, Brown lost control of the truck and it rotated off the roadway and into a culvert and overturned. Brown was ejected from the truck and then partially landed on top of him, per the GSP report.

Two people who were near the scene at the time of the wreck were able to get Brown from out underneath his truck while it was starting to catch fire.

Local law enforcement and emergency personnel from Cedartown Fire and Rescue at AdventHealth Redmond EMS responded and rushed him to the hospital in Rome, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

GSP did not have any further information about the wreck at this time.
