Update, 9:49 p.m.:
Georgia State Patrol reported additional details about the woman killed on Prior Station Road earlier this afternoon.
Courtney Winkles, 28, of Cedartown, died on the scene after a head-on collision with two other women at the intersection of Prior Station Road and Esom Hill Road.
According to GSP officials, the initial investigation found that Winkles “blew through a stop sign and struck the front of a 2011 Buick Enclave.”
Winkles was suspected of driving her 2004 Volkswagen Beetle southbound while under the influence of alcohol. She was ejected from her vehicle when colliding with Connie Mills and Margaret Rogers-Mills, both of Rome.
The Beetle overturned when both vehicles struck a ditch.
Both Connie, 46, and Margaret Rogers-Mills, 26, were taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome with what GSP officials described as serious injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
