A local man who was reported missing on Tuesday was found deceased today in the Cedartown area.

According to Polk County Police, Jimmy Clarence Statham, 79, was found in the 1999 Toyota Tacoma this morning by law enforcement who were out searching for him after he drove off from his residence Tuesday afternoon.

The elderly gentleman was reported when he went missing and police began their search Tuesday to be diagnosed with memory issues, but did not have dementia.

Police Chief Kenny Dodd stated that Statham was found today in the area behind Home Depot in Cedartown having driven down a path following power transmission lines and parked.

His death was reported to be self-inflicted.

No reports of foul play are suspected, but the Criminal Investigation Division is investigating as part of the missing person case and handled the death investigation earlier today.
