John Berry brings Christmas tour back to Cedartown on Dec. 18

A tradition bringing Cedartown some amazing Christmas tunes returns next week to the Performing Arts Center with one artist taking the stage on a tour that continues for decades.

John Berry is back in Cedartown on Wednesday night, December 18 on the stage at the CPAC for a stop on his annual Christmas tour, now in its 28th year.

The longtime country music recording artist has been busy on the road this holiday season, traveling across the country to help fans bring the spirit of the season to life through song.

Berry, who began his career in country music in decades ago, said it never gets old when he starts his annual Christmas tour since he can always find both songs in the holiday canon and something new to keep the shows fresh.

“There are some songs we do every year, but we always add in some every few years that we cycle through,” Berry said in an interview earlier this year.

Holiday music lovers can expect a real treat from the show as Berry covers many of the favorites of the Christmas canon like “O Holy Night” to “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

Tickets are still on sale but limited seats remain for the show next Wednesday night. Prices begin at $35 and up per person, depending on where the seats are located.

Berry’s career started in the 1970s, when he recorded music at home and eventually after many years working regionally he broke out with Liberty Records in the early 1990s, and has been nominated for Grammy awards for songs like “Your Love Amazes Me” and CMA nominations and awards throughout his career. He had Top 10 hits in the 1996 release of Faces including “Change My Mind” and “She’s Take a Shine.”

This after he was hit by a car on his motorcycle in 1981 and nearly died, has underwent throat surgeries and cancer treatments, and brain surgery to remove a cyst in 1994. Life itself for Berry is centered around the hope he finds that music can spread more than just joy.

Now more than four decades into his career in music, he hasn’t slowed down at all. Especially as he’s added new dates to this year’s Christmas tour and along with producing music, has a “Faith, Family and Friends” podcast, with some past episodes including Charlie Daniels and Neal McCoy.

Berry also has one more treat before the year wraps up and his tour calls it quits in Macon next week on December 21: a final stop in Nashville for a special show at the Grand Ole Opry.

“Literally wrapping up just in time for Christmas,” he said.
