The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that a second wreck on Saturday night required a trip to the hospital for the driver by LifeFlight helicopter.
GSP has not yet released the name of the driver, who they reported was airlifted to an area hospital. They did not have any immediate information about their condition at this point.
Per the report, the driver was on an ATV on Bennett Road when a dog ran into the roadway and caused the driver to swerve to avoid hitting it.
Sadly, the driver couldn’t avoid the pup and struck it, also causing them to be thrown from the ATV as they lost control of the vehicle. First responders found the driver at the scene and called for an airlift following the incident on Saturday night, June 15.
GSP said an investigation is still underway and information is incomplete as of this posting.
Bennett Road is found off of Old Collard Valley Road and Laurens Road in the Rockmart area.
