
A Griffin woman passed away at the scene of a one-car wreck in late September, per an update from the Polk County Coroner’s office.
On September 27, Phyllis Elaine Smith was traveling on the Highway 27 bypass when her vehicle went off the roadway and she died as a result of her injuries.
Smith was 75.
Born in Franklin, Missouri, she moved to Georgia with her father as a child and lived in Rome, graduating from West Rome High School and Shorter College.
Services are being held tomorrow in Stockbridge, Georgia at the Horis A. Ward Funeral Home – Fairview Chapel.
