The 19th edition of the Martin Luther King Jr. Walk in downtown Cedartown happened on Monday afternoon as participants braved the chill in the air and threat of winter weather to show their continued support for Civil Rights across all groups in the United States.
The annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Walk honored Joy Fredrick as this year’s Grand Marshal on their path from South Main Street to Holloway Park in front of Polk County Courthouse No. 2.
Fredrick headed the event in a nice ride with a convertible top before walkers made it down to Holloway Park to participate in the annual ceremony to wrap up the event. Pastor Bobby Church of Marietta Street United Methodist Church hosted the event this year.
The annual march has been organized be Letitia and Bernard Morgan as the Founder and Executive Director for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Organization of Cedartown.
Prizes were also handed out for the best expression of Dr. King during the event.
