GALLERY: County hosts opening event for Potts Hollow Trailhead

The Potts Hollow Trailhead has technically been open for a while now, but County officials joined with fellow municipal representatives from Cave Spring, and others from the Conservation Fund, Trippe Foundation, Keep Polk Beautiful, the Polk County Historical Society, the City of Cedartown and those who enjoy the Pinhoti Trail to welcome the new area into the fold of Polk County.

Potts Hollow has a deep connection to Polk County, once being the homestead for the daughter of Asa Prior, Angeline Prior Potts, and remained in the family for many generations.

The land is now part of the Pinhoti Trail and is owned by the Conservation Fund, but a major effort is currently underway to get grant funding through a state program for the county to purchase the land and further develop the recreation opportunities provided by the miles of trail that run through Polk County’s northwest corner from the Alabama state line to the Floyd County line near Cave Spring.

Find out more about that project here.
