Cedartown Fire & Rescue have been leading an effort to ensure that donations are making it down to South Georgia, and the first delivery of items from Polk to Jefferson County arrived in recent days.
The first trailer load of donations left on Friday afternoon.

Fire Chief Kyle Watters said he hopes the community will continue to give back and help fill the second trailer setup no long after the first one left.

Those who want to provide help of items like bottled water, cleaning supplies, tarps, non-perishable food items and other things needed for disaster-struck areas, contact Watters at 770-853-1793 or stop by the Fire Department on Philpot Street. Please ring the doorbell to leave a donation if no one is immediately on hand.
JTI Trucking is providing the trailer space and a truck to ship donations to Jefferson County.
