Update:

Officials are still investigating this evening the cause of a man’s death in a skydiving accident this afternoon.

Police officials reported that the Federal Aviation Administration will be taking over the investigation into what caused the death of a skydiver during a jump during the afternoon hour. No specific time has been reported, but Polk Today was first notified of the incident just after 3:30 p.m.

Officials have been sought for more information from the FAA about the incident.

A man died as the result of a skydiving accident reported in Polk County this afternoon.

Officials from the Polk County Coroners Office and the Polk County Police confirmed a fatality occurred within the last hour in the Grady Road area.

No additional information on the victim was being released pending full notification of next of kin.

The incident is under investigation.
