A local youth who was able to keep her spelling correct last week took the 2022 Polk School District Spelling Bee Championship.
Piper Ozment, the daughter of Benjamin and Ashley Ozment, took first place in the district-wide Spelling Bee on Wednesday morning in competition with others around the district.
The event held on January 26 in the HON Room at the Polk County College and Career Academy saw seven competitors in total vie for the title this year, with alternates from each school waiting to step up if the school champs couldn’t participate.

Piper is a fifth grade student at Eastside Elementary School and will go on to compete at the regional Spelling Bee on February 26th!We are extremely proud of all our District Spelling Bee competitors! There were two contestants representing each of the six elementary and two middle schools across Polk School District.
