DTF finds drugs, firearms during search of suspect’s home in Rockmart

Jordan Deonta Wright

Law enforcement netted drugs and three firearms while executing a search warrant of a Rockmart home following a month-long investigation by the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force.

The Friday, March 14 raid of MLK Jr. Street home of Jordan Deonta Wright, 32, included members of the tri-county DTF, the West Metro Drug Task Force, Rockmart Police and the Cedartown Police K-9 unit who were able to find several kinds of drugs and three firearms.

DTF Commander Steven Sweatt said that his unit obtained information that Wright had been selling illegal narcotics in the Rockmart area, and began to look further into the allegations. Following a monthlong investigation alongside the West Metro DTF, the Friday morning raid to conduct the search warrant came up with six pounds of marijuana, 148 grams of ecstasy, 53 grams of Fentanyl pills and the firearms.

“This is another example of how when law enforcement works together we are able to take dangerous drugs and weapons being dealt by individuals like Mr. Wright off the streets and out of our community,” Sweatt said.

He thanked local law enforcement and the West Metro DTF for their assistance in the investigation as well.

Wright remained in custody on felony charges of possession of marijuana; purchase, possession manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana; trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine; possession of a Schedule I controlled substance; possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance; and three counts of possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.

His bond was set at $140,000.
