The Chamber of Commerce celebrated on Friday morning as DJ’s Family Kitchen opened its doors in Rockmart for the first time, offering up a variety of Southern-style food for takeout customers to enjoy.
Open every day but Tuesdays, DJ’s Family Kitchen is owned and operated by Dr. Dalton (Jr.) and Robin Lemelle provides a variety of options for those who are craving something that feels like was made at home.
Fried and Teriyaki chicken, fried pork chops, chicken tenders, spaghetti, meatloaf and smoked sausage, peppers and onions are the main entrees on the menu, with additional specialty items including friend catfish and shrimp, along with beef tips with rice and gravy.

Several sides can also be enjoyed ranging from black-eyed peas to egg rolls and much more.
The cuisine inspired by Southern and Asian cuisine are the tastes conjured up for the home cooking feel by the Lemelle family. Dr. Lemelle – also a veteran – was excited to get open and serving for the weekend.
“This is going to be around for a while and we are going to make sure that we are here to serve the people,” he said.
The family-owned business will do takeout only for the time being, but are looking to hire additional employees and potentially offer delivery in the coming weeks.
