DAPC looks back at a positive 2021 in annual report

The Development Authority of Polk County shared their 2021 Annual Report of economic progress to their Board and other community stakeholders.

The community welcomed another industry and tenant to Cedartown North Business Park. Oldcastle APG purchased the Authority’s 100,000 sq ft spec building located at 100 N Park Blvd, along with 17.35 acres adjacent to the building.

The company’s investment in Polk County will initially create 20 jobs, and 45 when at full capacity.

Cedartown North Business Park-Phase 3 received GRAD Certified Select Status. In partnership with the City of Cedartown and the Cedartown Development Authority, Cedartown North Business Park continues to evolve and provide an excellent location for logistics and advanced manufacturing.

Along with the 260 acres in CNBP Phase 3 this provides a total of approximately 380 acres marketed nationally to prospects to locate businesses to Polk County, Georgia.

Continuous marketing efforts targeting industries for Polk County included a featured editorial in manufacturing, an advertorial, and a location listing in Business Facilities 2022 Site Seekers Guide Directory.

The Development Authority of Polk County was pleased to welcome Mr. Chris Thomas as President/ CEO back in June. The department has been administratively successful with a strategic planning session establishing goals for the next five years.

Financial highlights as of the 2021 calendar year were noted that liabilities for the Authority decreased approximately $2.03 million.

The sale of the spec-building eliminated associated loan obligations, and with continued economic development support from the Polk County Board of Commissioners allowed the Authority to retire a loan obligation for approximately 120 acres in Cedartown Business Park Phase 2.

The Authority recognizes and thanks the many partners involved and their roles in community development, economic development, workforce development, and the companies themselves that create the jobs and make the investments. A special note of thanks was given to Polk County for their ongoing leadership and financial support.
