Newest Middle School in Paulding County ready to open for 2024-25 school year
Paulding County School District, educators, future students and many more from around the community gathered on Monday to celebrate an auspicious day: a new campus opening up.
Crossroads Middle School’s ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday as the new campus gets ready to host its first classes starting on the first day of August, when all of the PCSD begins the 2024-25 academic calendar.
The new school is one of the feeder programs into North Paulding High School. The Crossroads Middle school colors and mascot reflect their connection, so they selected the Timberwolves earlier this year.
Principal Tom Alverson will be heading up the campus, after serving the past nine years as Principal at East Paulding Middle School.
Crossroads Middle School is located in the far northern corner of Paulding approaching the Acworth area, just off of the Seven Hills Connector.

PCSD began construction on this newest school back in September 2022, and it was completed just in time for a new school year to start as officials celebrated on Monday where soon up to 1,000 students will be able to attend classes in the 180,000+ square foot facility.
Officials hope the new Middle School campus – the 34th school built under PCSD – will alleviate overcrowding issues at three other middle school campuses focused on East and North Paulding.
Population increases in Paulding County over the past decades as it continues to incorporate fully into Metro Atlanta have required a larger increase in school construction and spending as classes sizes grow and force overcrowding issues to make investments for future expansion.
Superintendent Steve Barnette, School Board Chair Deborah Collett, Pastor Brian Bloye of West Ridge Church, Crossroads Principal Tom Alverson, and students Koi Hilman, Madison Bowen, Liam Londraville, and Naomi Brooks all got a chance to speak during Monday’s ribbon cutting.
