





A bust in Cedartown saw multiple arrests, and police are seeking two more suspect after a collection of drugs were found by officers only seeking to stop someone from driving an ATV on city streets.
Dartania Cantrez Arnold, 28; Thomas Roddricas Calhoun, 24; Sandia Taenara Calhoun, 43; Ladonna Epris Frazier, 39, Caden Laray Golder, 21; Davin Jalon McConnell, 24, all of Cedartown-area addresses, were taken into custody during a an incident that began as a traffic stop on Wednesday evening, March 26 around 6:30 p.m.
Calhoun was riding an ATV while being followed by another vehicle, and a report came into police to be on the lookout for the ATV on the roadway. Police spotted the ATV and the car, and when the two vehicle pulled into the East Gibson Street address, Calhoun got off the ATV and other suspects got out of the car and fled on foot. The driver, later identified as Arnold, remained behind.
Police followed the suspects who fled on foot into the house, and then during the chase discovered evidence of drug contraband around the residence. At least one suspect was able to flee from the residence before police could catch up with everyone inside.
Police took both Thomas and Sandia Calhoun into custody, along with Arnold, Frazier, Golder and McConnell since they were at the residence at the time.
Officers during the search were able to determine that much of the drugs found during the incident, along with firearms and several thousand dollars worth of cash belonged to Thomas Calhoun and McConnell, as they faced the majority of the drugs and weapons charges stemming from the incident.
However all those taken into custody are facing charges of one form or another for their part in the alleged drug trafficking happening out of the Gibson Street residence.
Officers did recover approximately 44 ounces of marijuana – or 2.75 pounds of marijuana along with serious narcotics including 30 grams of heroin, 31 grams cocaine, 4 grams of methamphetamine, plus 163 Xanax pills, 75 ecstasy tablets, 78 oxycodone pills, and a single suspected psilocybin mushroom.
The search also netted 3 firearms and $6,200 cash.
Police Chief Jamie Newsome said the unexpected drug discovery is still a win for the residents of Cedartown.
“These individuals were involved in the sale of seriously dangerous drugs in our community, and it is a good thing that our officers discovered this was going on while they were trying to keep the streets safe for drivers as well,” he said. “It goes to show that you never know what will happen in situations that might begin as a simple traffic stop, so I commend my officers as they reacted in a diligent manner while the situation was still evolving.”
Police are still searching for two suspects who were able to flee from the Gibson Street residence as officers took others into custody, being sought for questioning at this time.
As of this posting, bond had been denied for both Thomas and Sandia Calhoun, remained to be set for Arnold, Frazier, Golder and McConnell.
Thomas Calhoun faced the most charges out of the incident including 150 counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, 75 counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, two counts of felony possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of tools for the commission of a crime, four counts of possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, three counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon or first offender, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, and drugs not in original container. He also faces traffic charges for: unregistered vehicle, failure to stop at stop sign, no helmet (motorcycle,) no insurance, and driving without a valid license.
McConnell faced the same drug charges and counts as Calhoun.
Shandia Calhoun and Frazier were both charged with three counts for the felony marijuana possession, five counts for possession of tools for the commission of a crime, two counts of possession and use of drug-related objects, two counts of drug possession near a housing project or park.
Arnold faced several misdemeanor and felony charges including possession of cocaine and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, plus a charge for misdemeanor marijuana possession, and charges for improper parking and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
And Golder faced two misdemeanor charges of willful obstruction of law enforcement officers and marijuana possession.
Additional arrests and charges may be pending in the incident.
