There are a lot of ways to support an organization like Community Share Ministries, and now they’ve added one more way.
Community Share Ministries has now opened up the Crazy Mart store in what used to be the storefront for the thrift stores, which founder Jason Slaughter said will be providing new products at set prices, with proceeds to benefit the non-profit organization that helps people in need in a variety of ways.
He explained that Crazy Mart will be selling items at six set price points – $1, $2, $3, $5, $10 and $20 – for a variety of items that shoppers in Polk County will find useful. The store now replaces the thrift store, which is now moved to the back warehouse at 1116 N. Main St., Cedartown. They open at 8:30 a.m. from Monday through Saturday.
“We’ve got new doors and new lights going up in the store in the back,” he said. “We’ve moved the thrift store mainly into the space where we used to handle a lot of our food distribution.”
The building has also got a fresh coat of paint all around as work continues on the thrift storefront doors, with his intention for the storefront home of Community Share Ministries to work more like a shopping center where customers can stop and shop at both Crazy Mart and the Thrift Store at one time, and take home food donations if they are in need.
Community Share Ministries continues to provide food and milk to the community free of charge to those in need, and the fourth Thursday of each month anyone is eligible for a 30-pound bag of food in need.
“There are no requirements show up, and we’ll hand it to them,” Slaughter said.
He said Community Share Ministries shares around 35,000 to 40,000 pounds of food per month.
