CHS Rising Senior Rashaun Cummings dies at 17

A rising senior at Cedartown High School was reported to have died on Wednesday night, according to reports from Polk County Coroner Norman Smith.

Smith said that Deputy Coroner Mark Watters responded to the scene and found Rashaun Cummings, 17, dead at his home on Blanche Road after officials were called out around 9 p.m. on June 16 in what appears to be a self-inflicted injury.

The Cedartown Police Department was called into provide their assistance in investigating the incident, but have thus far not provided any details.

The Polk School District announced this morning the loss of Cummings on social media, and asked for prayers for rising senior’s family, friends and the entire Cedartown High School family today.

This marks the third student this year to have their life cut short by their own hands in the area.
