Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance, the Rotary Club got to hold their annual Duck Race, and fun was had by all despite chilly weather for the 2024 Silver Comet Festival held in downtown Rockmart on Saturday.

The event drew hundreds to take part as vendors provided opportunity for weekend holiday shopping and the Duck Race saw thousands of rubber duckies hit the water in Euharlee Creek to decide who would win this year’s big prizes.

Saturday’s event marked the fourth annual event held in Downtown Rockmart and organized by the Rotary Club of Polk County. Alongside opportunities for fun and shopping and the Duck Race, the Rockmart Slate Corporation held tours of the quarry and kid got a chance to sit with Santa Claus for photos.

Money raised via the Duck Race, vendor spots and sponsorships are used by the club to help local organizations and fund scholarships for seniors at Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools annually.
